Kia Kaha with HTC

Meeting Vaughan was an emotional moment. Watching people over come their fears and battle through adversity always stirs something in me. I carry those moments with me in life and they often bring me strength when life shows me struggles. The coming together of people to support each other at Hybrid Training Centre (HTC) creates a 'chosen family’. A group of dedicated people armouring the vulnerability of each other so that they can grow and lead in their seperate lives outside of HTC.

I met Vaughan while he was a bundle of nerves before stepping into the ring with one of Tasmania’s premier boxers, and likely the hardest puncher in the state, Brayden Ion.

I knew nothing of his story.

The interview that followed and his courage to step forward, taking punches and feeling pain, while continuing to fight back has given everyone a gift. A small memory to recall to keep us moving during our hardships, in spite of the pain it takes to do so. Thank you Vaughan <3
